Playing online blackjack is
not that different from playing blackjack the conventional way. The only
difference is that you are using your computer, instead of actual cards.
Online blackjack can be played in various ways. You can play with a
computer, or you can play with real and actual players through online
webcam casinos. Despite this, though, the basics of playing blackjack
remain the same.
So how exactly is the game of online blackjack, or simply blackjack,
played?
The objective of blackjack is to get a hand whose total value is closest
to 21. If the total hand value goes over 21, that is a bust, which is an
automatic loss. If the dealer gets a push hand, the game is over and all
the players go home as winners. To get a blackjack, which is an exact 21
card, you need an ace and a ten. When you get that card combination, you
will automatically win the game. In online blackjack, players will be
playing against the house. If the house and the player get the same hand
value, it is a tie, which is called a push.
The twist in blackjack can be blamed on the value given to each of the
cards. The number cards are valued at their corresponding numbers.
However, as for the face cards and aces, the values are different. The
face cards are valued at 10 each. The aces can either be worth 11 or 1,
depending on the game circumstance.
To start a blackjack game, the players will be asked to make bets. After
that, they will be given two face up cards. The cards will be taken out
of multiple decks as is the norm in online blackjack games. The dealer
then deals two cards for himself, but one of the cards will be dealt
with the face down. After that, the players will be asked to make ther
decisions of whether to stand or to hit. To stand means to keep his
existing cards, while to hit means to ask for another card to improve
his hand. A player can hit repeatedly as long as he does not go over 21
yet.
After all the players have decided on their moves, the dealer will
reveal his face down card. There is a rule in blackjack as to what the
dealer can do. It is not the dealer’s decision on whether he will hit or
stand. If the hand value is 17 or above, the dealer has to stand. On the
other hand, if the hand value is less than 17, the dealer has to hit.
Players whose hand has a higher value than the dealer’s will win their
bets. But those whose hand has a lower value than the dealer’s will lose
their bets.
Players can usually evaluate the probability of the dealer getting a
blackjack by the first card. If the dealer gets an ace or a ten as the
first card, players have the choice to play the insurance card. This
helps soften the blow in case the dealer’s second card happens to be a
ten or an ace that makes the hand a blackjack.
Those are the basics of blackjack, which also apply to online blackjack.
